We’re all creatures of habit and most of us have daily routines that we stick to religiously. Having a cup of coffee first thing in the morning, what time you wake up or go to sleep, how you make decisions, or how you act in certain situations are just some of the habits that we form through constant repetition.
These habits and routines make us feel comfortable. They make us feel safe. We like having consistency and routine. These habits help form our comfort zones. A comfort zone is defined as “a place, situation, or level where someone feels confident and comfortable or the level at which one functions with ease and familiarity.”
Have you ever been overwhelmed and scared to make a certain decision, try something new or go after your dreams? Yeah, me too. It can be scary, uncomfortable and awkward. Well, in order to achieve your goals you need to break away from your comfort zone and get a little awkward, uncomfortable and scared! The only way you will continue to grow is if you push yourself to step outside your comfort zone and try something.
“Move out of your comfort zone. You can only grow if you are willing to feel awkward and uncomfortable when you try something new.” –Brian Tracy
