Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Today I began to think about all the things that I’m thankful for and I realized there are many things that we all take for granted.
Each and every one of us are so blessed and we all have so much to be thankful for. Unfortunately, there are many things that we often overlook that we should be SO thankful for. There are many people throughout the world who would love to have some of the very basic things that we take for granted. Here are 6 things that we should all be thankful for that often get overlooked…
1. Money In Your Checking and Savings Account
If you have some money in the bank, and some spare change in your wallet you are among the top 8% of the world’s wealthy. Over 1 Billion people in the world live on less than $1 a day.
2. Clean Water
Over 780 Million people do not have access to clean drinking water. That’s over 2.5 times the population here in the United States. A mere 12 percent of the world’s population uses 85 percent of its water.
According to estimates, 100 million people worldwide are literally homeless. There are close to 1,000 million people who live in slums or shanty-towns across the globe.
4. Food In Your Refrigerator
The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization estimates that nearly 870 Million people suffer from chronic undernourishment.
Every year over 121 Million children in the world do not receive any formal education.
6. The Ability to Read
If you can read this post you are ahead of the 2 Billion people in the world who cannot read.
So, on this Thanksgiving be thankful not only for your friends, family, and the food you will enjoy together. But, remember to be thankful for everything you have in your life…even the things we often overlook.
So be thankful for the money you have, the clean water, food in the fridge, the roof over your head, the education you have, and even your ability to read. There are millions of people in the world who do not have a fraction of what you have been blessed with. Have a great day…Happy Thanksgiving.
